Giving Overview
Giving is a normal part of the worship life of a follower of Jesus. It is no more or less important than other ways we follow Jesus (praying, Bible reading, serving others, loving your neighbor as yourself). Giving is essential to worshiping God (Proverbs 3:9), following Christ (2 Corinthians 8:7), and growing spiritually (2 Corinthians 8:8). In the New Testament, giving is to be done:
Regularly - as a lifestyle (1 Cor 16:2)
Proportionately - as a percentage of income/assets (2 Cor 8:14)
Joyfully - not because you have to (2 Cor 9:7)
Ways to Give
